Lisa Fendrick called and booked a trip as a birthday gift for Luke (8 yrs.) and husband Jack this was a boy's day out next time we'll include the girls. Was going to hit the Long Bar but wanted some good fish so went to Bird Island first before any other boats could hit it. Good guess --on the first drift did 5 trout 3#'s or bigger---a real good start and had Luke casting like the big boys real quick--went back around and two other boats had come up behind us and another boat had anchored and scattered the the fish. Went north to the "two" pvc pipes and added one lonesome trout about 17 inches started to catch throwbacks---time to leave. Went to the east side of Bird Island and set up a drift soon Jack has a bite, sets the hook and breaks the line "me bad" That shouldn't happen when it does it's the Captians fault. Went a little further and Luke is soon fighting a "big" red all around the boat and after a little while and according to Luke a sore arm net a 30 inch redfish tagged and boxed. Wanted another red real bad but instead finished up our limit with 10 trout (7 over 3#s ) and the one redfish and biggest trout by Luke.
