Last year in the middle of the red tide took Beto and Nano Guerro with friend Jerry Batty fishing and fishing was horrible caught some trout with most undersized keeping 6. Owed them a good trip and today they got it.
Water temperature was 64 degrees with the wind blowing about 15. Started at the north end of Long Bar catching some throw back trout with one keeper. Headed north to the west side near Unnecessary Island and ran into a good feed of keeper trout catching them on popping cork as well as purple/white tail touts ( was using red/white tail when Jerry switched to the purple and the trout loved it) got tired of catching trout   LOL  and pulled over to the edge of the spoil banks switching over to popping corks with live shrimp and caught two nice reds up to 26 inches with Nano catching the little one and Beto the biggest. Wore this out and headed to the east side where I had been catching some redfish set up a drift and no reds but a bunch of trout all over 20 inches to a best of 24 inches caught by "you guessed it" Beto giving him biggest trout and red for the day--- getting late headed to the dock to clean our 15 trout and two redfish.
Feel a lot better about my "bad" trip of last year with "my make-up trip"
